SOLVAY is an international chemical Group committed to sustainable development with a clear focus on innovation and operational excellence. Its recent acquisition of specialty chemicals company Rhodia created a much larger player which is realizing over 90% of its sales in markets where it is among the top 3 global leaders
The Group is headquartered in Brussels, employs about 30,000 people in 55 countries and generated EUR 12 billion in sales (pro forma) in 2012. Solvay SA is listed on NYSE Euronext (SOLB.BE- Bloomberg: SOLB.BB – Reuters: SOLBt.BR).
The Solvay Nanotechnology Platform catalyses and supports the creation of additional or new economic value for « high-tech » materials by monitoring, in-sourcing and implementing appropriate leading edge science and technologies. For example, nanotechnologies are used in the development and marketing of nanostructured fluorinated polymers, for new generation of liquid crystal displays (LCD’s) or for improved properties of high performance polymers.
All projects are conducted in collaboration with the Group’s Business Units and with a constant concern for health and hygiene in the implementation of this technology. An adequate risk and benefit analysis is in the heart of our approaches and policies.
