The Walter Brendel Centre of Experimental Medicine (WBex) at LMU Munich is a newly established research institution dedicated to perform basic research at the clinical interface. The WBex promotes outstanding cardiovascular research, especially in the fields of microcirculation and leukocyte physiology/inflammation.
The centre offers state-of-the-art research platforms and methodological expertise primarily in the areas of in vivo microscopy and bioimaging. Using advanced imaging techniques, research in the Krombach lab is focussed on (i) the analysis of mechanisms regulating leukocyte trafficking in inflammatory disease and (ii) the distribution/fate and biological effects of nanomaterials at the microscopic level under physiologic and pathophysiologic conditions.
