The Technical University of Denmark, National Food Institute (DTU-Food) is a university institute covering safety and nutrition aspects of food components.
The Metals, Minerals and Nanoscience Group has high-level competences in the following areas:
- Nanoparticle (NP) characterisation:
- Size distribution, qualitative and quantitative determination by AFFF-MALS/DLS-ICP-MS (asymmetric flow field flow fractionation coupled to multi angle and dynamic light scattering as well as inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry);
- Number-based size distribution by ICP-MS in single particle mode
- Imaging by SEM, TEM (scanning and transmission electron microscopy) and FIB-SEM (focused ion beam SEM)
- Absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion (ADME) in animal studies including localisation and in situ size determination of NPs in organs, tissues and organelles
- Stability and dissolution of nanoparticles in synthetic or real biological environments
- Bio-inorganic analytical chemistry of (organo)metallics following dissolution of NPs
