The total number of full time students has reached over 42,117 including more than 22,557 undergraduates, over 13,413 postgraduates working for master’s degrees and over 7,398 Ph.D candidates. The university has 7 affiliated hospitals, providing medical services of various kinds for people from all over Zhejiang province.

Prof. Changyou Gao is the director of Institute of Biomedical Macromolecules, Zhejiang University and a deputy director of Key Laboratory of Macromolecular Synthesis and Functionalization, Ministry of Education, China. He is a winner for the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars of China (2004), and was appointed as a Changjiang Scholar of the Ministry of Education of China (2007).

His laboratory consists of 2 profs., 2 associate profs., 1 postdoc and 15 Ph.D. students working on several nantional wide projects: micro- and nano particles fabrication and modificaiton, interaction between particles and cells, drug delivery and cancer therapy, scaffolding materials for cartilage, skin and bone regeneration, and gradient biomaterials for mediating cell migration.

He has published more than 200 papers in peer-reviewed journals and has a personal H-index of 38 at present. He has delivered more than 30 keynote or plenary lectures in scientific conferences. He serves as an editorial member of 7 journals.
